Immerse

MattDyer

Violent and bloody, you escape with your life

Now is not the time to hold back and die

Find a break in the trees upon this mountain

Your wounds are bleeding again

Do you have the will to survive

Do you have the will to make it to the water

Crawl and crawl to the edge

Feel your fingers pierce the smooth surface

Ice cold but healing water

Pull yourself up to drink

And drink deeply, the scorched throat needs relief

Just stay and be still

Would you be still

Let the cold wash over your body

Let the body be revived

Oh, how sweet the sound of still water

Oh, how sweet to immerse all wounds in the water

The scars will remain far after you're gone from this place

Drink deep and hope to breathe

When the sun goes down, will you run again?

Away from the place of safety, it was never the goal

But when wolves trail you because of your blood, won’t you wish for the place where you embrace the water

The drink that it offers refreshes

The water’s edge, loss, let it be washed away

This is a place of safety and peace in the midst of hell here on earth

There’s nothing left to lose

There’s nothing left to prove

So sink deep into the water and let the blood come clean
