my hooves are in chains competing in a race
gallop despite the pain
happen to slip and fall
clouds came with some rain
round and round in circles here we go
some of their chains broke
so out of the lanes they go
start to go slow to keep this symbiosis afloat
but here comes the snow some skeet while i’m cold
trotting alone my prize starts to appear
it’s distant and not clear
but I need it here
so despite the fear
smoke the competition out
gallop into a sea of doubt
what if it wasn’t enough
feel the rust of my cuffs burn against my skin
rushing forward to sins
heaven it’s out of reach
just share a piece
cant fly just
confined
to these
same
circular race tracks
full of thorns and vines
multiple storylines intertwined
growing across the field overtime
still trucking along
trying to win this prize
no number of laps finalized
just running in circles chained to a memories mind

the best compliment
I can give you, is to state
that this poem
reminded me of the words written
by one of my favourite
Poet's, of all time
the sublimely talented, 'Ada Limon'
from her poem titled:
'how to triumph like a girl'
)
