'Writing The Storm' (+1)

Kurt Philip Behm

“Replay the riff in G,”

Robby said to Ray

“Come in a half beat behind,”

they both said to John

Then the three looked at Jim who said…

“Lay it all down,

turn it all over,

and pull it all back”

Apex Predator

To run from today

or hide from tomorrow,

the ultimate hunter,

time waiting downwind

Each day a stalking,

your tracks to betray you,

escape out of season

—the wolf closing in

    Kurt,

    One of my favorites,
    The Doors!
You were there when they performed at the
    Whisky a Go Go?

I was surfing at Huntington Beach and the Doors were the house band. Morrison would often come and watch when the waves were up. I know he wanted to try it but we could never get him wet.

I was writing on the beach one day and Pam Corson had a few of Jim's poems in the big canvas bag she always carried.

My roommate Scott used to tease Morrison about not being able
to swim. That's what we all thought.

I cut my right foot (barefooted) so badly on broken glass in the 'Whisky' that I ended up in Cedars Sinai for stitches.

I've always maintained that 'Riders On the Storm' is one of the three greatest rock songs ever written.

We went back in 1967 for 'The Summer Of Love' and surfed at
Big Sur about 130 miles south of S.F.

      Memory lane...

      Kurt

Wow 🤩 what great memories…except for your foot, of course…but I suppose even that mishap adds to the wonderful memories down ‘memory lane’.

Thank you for sharing your poem and for taking me down this particular memory lane. I appreciate it very much.

        Laura🌻
P.S.- Actually my mom gave me a handwritten copy of the lyrics of ‘Riders On The Storm’.

Ray's right. The movie left me feeling the same way...

Unfortunately, Val Kilmer is a little too young to really
remember what it was like, but Stone should have known
        better.

          Thank you for the link.
          Just read the article.
I’ll trust your judgment about the movie. I do not want to overshadow my love and idolization for JM/Doors. Here’s an interesting fact for you…
He died on my birthday (July 3rd).

I can envision (which I’d would love to read) another published book of the close encounters you’ve experienced with what we, the lay people, would consider notables…such as actors, actresses, musicians, other celebrities, VIPs, dignitaries, ordinary people like ourselves, etc.

          Pretty cool Mom!

            Yes, she truly was.🤗

I love The Doors! To young to have had the pleasure of ever seeing them live, unfortunately.

            'Each day a stalking,
            your tracks to betray you,'
            great lines
            (but my favourite thing
            on this page
            is your comment conversation
            those memories and close proximity
            contextualised content, may be enough
            for a short, whimsical book
            of memory lane, revisits
I know I would love to read it
            if that genius
            poetic mind of yours
            ever wanted, to write it)

            Aargh…another book!

It is an intriguing thought though.

‘Searching For Crazy Horse’ is about my 40+ years motorcycle touring the American West.

            Thanks LB

            Yes!…another 📖 to love and enjoy…🙌🏻 👍🏻 👏🏻 . It’ll definitely enrich my KPB collection.💝
