She danced like a whisper of breeze
In the light of the full moon.
Light and airy flowing
Without a word or even a sound,
Delicate as a flower.
Crickets sang as she danced
In the light of the full moon.
She asked me to dance
Gently but oh so persuasively,
And so I picked me up and
Danced as best I could
In the light of the full moon.
We sailed through the valley
In each other’s arms
Lightly and happily,
As if we’d rehearsed this step
A million times before,
In the light of the full moon.
We made a world out there
Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire,
Clinging to our few moments,
Guarding our little drama, our little life,
In the light of the full moon.
She danced and danced and danced,
Her blithe spirit capable of anything her heart wanted.
Having seen all I could do,
She wanted more of life, a larger life,
And I watched her dance away,
In the light of the full moon.
Blithe spirit.
My angel in veils of wispy lightness.
And the moon reflected off her soul,
As she rose to the sky
Chasing that life she wanted,
And I stood here breathless,
Having danced with an angel
In the light of the full moon.

Am so glad to have caught you dancing with angels Buzz - a reminder that Ginger and Fred are still around for many like us - a lovely write and thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Thank you so much. Perhaps it is my aging that casts importance on the moments lived so long ago. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
A sweet romantic poem filled with remembrances of her and the joy she brought to your life. "Dancing" "in the light of the full moon" sets a most idyllic scene. Filled with fantasy and I believe passion your poem brings images of tenderness and desire. Glad I found this one. - Phil A.
