The Phoenix

taylorstan21

You caught me as i fell

Silvery pools  were a cruel spell

Like moth drawn to flame

Jumped right into them

Never knew what was

Waiting at the end

dancing in the woods

Under stars and moonlight

Your hand overshadowed mine

Silver and green align

And for first and last time

You were mine

Our castle had a crack

I lost track

Of number of enemies

You shook hands with

Behind my back

But you made all demons disappear

When you whispered in my ear

You are my forever,dear

Then why my sworn enemy was in white

When you promised me your side

You told me she was way to your dreams

Your hopes  your retribution

And then came to world my greatest joy

And my life

My anchor

She hold me here when all was lost

And gone

Breeze turned to storm

And our castle crumbled once and for all

Your lips mouthed the same old lie

Without you love, I would die

Thorned thrones,cursed crowns

You drank on power

On your rage path

Setting everything on fire

vengeance devoured soul

Locked me in a tower

But in the darkest night

There was a single star

Shining brightest of all

The morningstar

He reached

As i sat on a sinking ship

And i rose from my ashes

Like a phoenix

Vengeance was gone but

Power and pride you lost

When you realise the cost

Of losing who you love the most

In the final battle

Took the blow

And vowed

Forever

I promised the same with your final breathe

Now i am sitting in the kitchen with morningstar and anchor

Singing a song

Laughing along

Thinking about the best thing i did

When i promised you

Like promises you made

  • Comment from author about the poem: I went through a toxic relationship and while I was reading a book it all came back. So I decided to write a poem. It has a story arc so its not totally based on my story.\r\nHope you guys like it:)
