An Open Letter to my Best Friend

librawrites

You were the first person I became friends with when I moved to the city

At first, we shared a bench, and now we share every detail of our life

Just a girl in my class turned to my best friend

All the fights, debates, dances, classes, functions, competitions, I had you by my side.

We are always supportive of each other, even if it makes us uncomfortable

Like stalking a guy or dancing on a quiet road

We watched each other grow, from children to teenagers, teenagers to young adults,

Time flies by, 17 years later,

We have gone from innocent mischiefs to devilish pranks.

I still need you as I did before

Only you could cheer me up when I am at my lowest, encourage me when I am demotivated, believe in me when I couldn't.

But I still can't sing in front of anyone except you.

Now we look at old pictures and videos of us and reminisce about all of our great memories.

And help each other plan their future

I remember once I called you my kryptonite,

I was wrong

You are my yellow sunlight
