The Silence

Gunnar

Silence,
deafening senses of nothing.
Emotions,
raging rivers cascading.

Anger,
caged screams silently repressed.
Frustration,
clenched fingers of hopelessness.

Despair,
the dark of night removing light.
Humiliation,
the relentless strike of will released.

Hate,
violent froth from uneasy water.
Emptiness,
winter-harsh and coldness as ice.

Sadness,
colourful flowers withering to dust.
Lonliness,
a spring cloud divided by two winds.

Pride,
denying a reunion with warm summer.
Dignity,
an invisible obstruction to release.

Stretched,
the bond seemingly at point of break.
Neither,
understanding quite it's binding strength.

Guilt,
he fights a voiceless battle of self.
Regret,
she relives time and over again.

Spirits,
reaching out to each other unseen.
Both,
desperately wanting deeds undone.

Silence,
pulsating anguish of exposed hearts.

Whispering,
love and bond yet do still exist!

Whispering,
softly through it's own harsh stillness,

Love...is patient
Love...is wilful
Love...is wise
Love...is victorious.

Yes Love knows,
The silence will be broken.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A poem about disagreement between two souls supposedly in love. How difficult it is to come to an agreement, make up, to forgive, to find each other in that sea of despair. But love knows that if they really care...it will sort itself out. Sad to say a recent personal experience that did not end well for me motivated me to write this.
