Strong at Heart

Accidental Poet

When a loved one crosses over

To the other side

We all sense the feeling of loss

The tears a struggle to hide

Gone forever

That physical presence

An overwhelming emotion

To reach for their essence

But a familiar voice

There within your heart

A comforting feeling

Never to depart

Your loved one

Only a heartbeat away

Whenever you’re missing them

Every night and day

Feel them with you

Their pride that you are

Giving you their strength

Strong at heart

This poem reminds of when I lost my sweet cocker spaniel Posey in September of 2021.True she wasn't a human, but she was definitely family!

              • Accidental Poet

Yes, human, feline, canine or no matter who, if they were family, they're always with us. Sorry for your loss of Posey.
