Cranberry Juice

Audite Degenerem

Been a long time since you looked in
The Fog like grip
And lucid resonance
Of a million shooting stars
That fastball in the back
A Tyson punch
Illegally
Which one?
Choose

I wanna use the Pikey
In his prime?
Myself
Me!
My prime!
To effectively
And pro-actively
Remonstrate
This self-punch
And wouldn't you have it?
My Quack's gone fishing
In a while crocodile
So meanwhile
I must administrate
My vaccinium

Covid related?
No

Now here you go again
Propelled on minute wheels
Potato cropper
An Olympic torch of atomised sea
My crystal vision of red exemption
And nature's smile
For some brief relief

A sexy beast
The guy you can't hit
(Almost)

That...
And lay off the pop
Just once
In a bit

  • Comment from author about the poem: Some references: 'The Fog' have a song with the lyrics -"been a long time since you looked into my eyes". There are/were two big Tyson boxers in history. Tyson Fury is from traveller - 'pikey' (slang) roots. The 'pikey' line is from the movie 'Snatch' by Guy Ritchie. Tyson Fury once punched himself in the face very hard (accidentally) in the ring. The self-punch a reference to overindulgence, yet the character even protests it himself. The Doctor (quack) isn't available, so the character decides to drink some cranberry juice (from the vaccinium genus), which has nothing to do with vaccines. Nathan Apodaca from Idaho (potatoes) - is the viral video guy drinking Ocean Spray whilst riding a skateboard - along with Fleetwood Mac music - some lines from 'Dreams' are used. The olympic torch is a reference to the bottle. Atomised - spray. Sea - Ocean. The movie 'The Departed' by Martin Scorsese, has a cranberry juice scene, "almost a guy you can't hit", is a line used by Ray Winston (who starred in Sexy Beast) in the scene.

    I sympathise. Very severe indeed.
