Imprinted

Micro_Nicia6702

You want me to forget

Forget what exactly

Forget the words you said to me when we first met

Forget the feeling I got when I heard you laugh

Forget the feeling of my heart beating faster and faster

Just because you hugged me

Forget the day my first kiss was taken by you

Or do you want me to forget about her

That girl with the perfect smile and hair

Her hour glass figure that stood perfectly

Counting down to the moment

You noticed it

Do you want me to forget about your hands

The same hands you said were meant to hold only me

But was found tangled in that girls hair

Or forget about her legs that wrapped around the same waist my arms were

How could you ask me to forget anything?

There were dreams I had for us

Places I wanted us to go

Now what?

All those dreams are tainted

Tainted with her mark on you

Her face taunts me

Reminding me that you chose her

You told me we were forever

And now you want me to forget

You can’t forget forever

And boy do I want to forget it all

But I can’t

Because I still love you

I still love you but I don’t want to

I don’t want to hurt anymore

I don’t want the cracks to grow bigger

I don’t want my heart to beat for you

The voices in my head get louder

They want to erase her

Erase you and the memories

But they can’t

Because sadly

I still love you…

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wanted to try and write a poem about something I have never experienced. Since I had never been in a relationship, I don't fully understand how bad it feels to get cheated on...but I do know heartbreak. I hope you all like it!
