Cabinet

screaming goat.

Stickers on the outside
just for looks.
Darkness on the inside
at least 'til you open her up
Oh, sorry, I meant it.
Just a cabinet.
Not that important.
Take something out
and put something else in.
She won't feel it.
After all, it's just a cabinet.

I take a breath,
Preparing to do this
I open up the medicine cabinet
Then I grab a few bottles
I move on to the bathroom,
Grabbing a few razors to be safe
I have to make sure this works
I close the cabinet,
I close the bathroom,
Lastly, I close my life.

You gotta let the blood out the body
You gotta let it all fade away
Once the blood is out the body
Then the body can reawake
You gotta cut the body wide
Gotta cut it deep inside
See the pictures life unfold
Death in jars, story told.

A cabinet for my feelings
Jars full of thoughts
The things I've bottled up
When people ask for my opinion,
I open up the doors
I grab a few bottles
But in the hurry,
I knock over the shelf
Now all my thoughts
Are in shards all over the floor.

Before Cabinet, there
were planks of sanded wood
before then
were chunks of a savaged tree
which, in turn
was once but a mere planted
seed...
Next time you look at Her
remember
this object, you're rabidly
fantasising, over
was once, a gurgling bundle of hope
to so many
so please, be gentle - be humane
keep her polish, glistening
don't let her fall, into ruin...

Opening up the doors
Scared of what's within
Wondering what is lurking
A daunting feeling I can't pin
The fear is on the outside
The dread of the unknown
The threat of isolation
Ending up on one's own
I open up the cabinet
My fears, they melt away
For it was only in my head
These fears, day to day.

This cabinet,
Where I reside
This cabinet,
A place to hide
A place to hide feelings,
A place to hide memories
A place to hide from this cruel reality
