My heart is wrapped in thorns.
Creating a droplet of crimson blood
On the delicate fingertips
Of anyone who dares to cross the territory.
I read pages about all-consuming loves,
That ignite fires within our bones.
Why do the thorns refuse to wilt
And allow my heart
To experience this euphoria?
In my head,
I dance as raindrops fall.
Glistening as they hit my bare skin.
I would like to think that
Somebody dances with me.
Holding an umbrella to shield
The storm.
But the reality is
I am in solitude
Because
My heart is wrapped in thorns
That nobody can wrestle through.
