The Spell Of Melon

Charles Edward York

And suddenly this glow comes again

As I fall inexplicably

Under the spell of melon

Her scent appears

The dreary world of composure

I take comfort in

Becomes a rapturous realm

Sunshine, smiles and laughter

Roar back to life

And I feel my heart beat again.

Against the tide of time

Her face erases darkness

Frozen winter turns into warm spring

Barren branches

Grow lush green with leaves

The flowers of youth

Resonates with colors

Energy fills my silent roots

And sad bowls beneath my eyes

Dissolve and disappear.

These lifeless lungs breathe

An amorous atmosphere

When her presence pours

Forth as a fragrance

Lush as the green scent of melon

Swelling ecstasy inside me

So luscious and abundant

Only the Sun rivals

Such epiphany glowing

As Moon and stars in dreams.
