Deep Below

grayson jaeger

In the ocean where I lie, far away beneath the sky,

far from people.

Far from steep hills and far from the deep feelings of the ones who had lost.

That is where I lie, far away from agony, and staying happily with my family.

Far from my wife, oh how I miss her fiery eyes that glistened in the light, but she had passed away before the fight.

Far from a grave, the bones left of me still wear my uniform with pride.

No feelings left for I won’t be found, far away beneath the ground.

I’m far away from Flanders Field where they say the poppies grow row by row, but that is something I’ll never know.

In the ocean I will lie here forever, but I know I’m never alone for my friends I am with, who have sunk down with me, even if we're deep below.
