Broken Beauty

Charles Edward York

You are a broken beauty

The stolen gift of trauma

Innocence taken

Grand larceny

Scarred life

Trouble chained

To dark repetition

Expected smiles

With invisible tears

Ingenue in lustful eyes

Torn apart

By nightmares

And heartache

Self-destruction or

Held together

By long nights,

Therapy, dreams

And sheer determination.

A relic of tragedy

Survivor of shattered

Youth and sexuality

Violations

Abuse

Mental torture

Manipulation

By tyrants

Emotional terrorists

And especially men

Whose twisted,

Sordid tastes

And wicked

Machinations

Served evil desires

Sometimes

In disguise bearing

A semblance of trust

A Devil with angels wings.

You are an angel

Not fallen

Only deceived

Derailed

Whose song

Deafened

By the dark silence

Of deviant forces

You are the priceless one

Frozen by fallacies

But warmed

By compassion

The healing balm

Awaits you

Open hands

Who also suffered

Endured the pain

Can help you

Find peace

And regain your wings!
