Inner Sanctum

ModernBard

Knight: Hostage-takers and glee-fakers,

                 Doing all they can,

                 Have us taking godly wafers

                 Just to please the Man.

Prince:  I understand your concern

                About the current situation.

We will build a virtual berm

                To jumpstart our Persuasion.

This will drive home our intentions

                All without the least pretension.

                We’ll make sure they understand

                Who's truly in Command.

Knight: I said goddam! You’re so conniving!

All you do is think up plans

                While we’re out here striving

                Tryna please the bloody Man.

If you were in charge of us

                We would all be winning.

Most of us would give all, plus

                A virulent beginning.

                Some would give much more,

                If we could afford to.

                [To Servant.]

When you leave just pull the door

And lock it right behind you.

Servant: Yessir, I understand exactly what you mean.

I have left here thrice before

And know you like it clean.

Knight: [To Prince . . . frowning.]

                 Anyway, as I was saying . . .
