You Crossed My Mind

Draven

You crossed my mind

as I crossed the Rhein

that very day.

You were in my thoughts

yet I did not write.

Now I will

just remember the times

as they were.

I will try not to

think of your suffering.

Although I am so very sorry

that it was too much to bear.

Your struggle is now over

But I am so thankful

our paths crossed

I got to know you,

we worked together,

made wonderful theatre

You impacted my life,

as you did for many

in such positive ways.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I woke up today with the news that a colleague in Australia committed suicide. Being far from home brings a sort of distance to news like this and it is very hard to process. Yet he was indeed in my thoughts that very day. It is awful news and I, like possibly many, wish I reached out when I had the chance. R. I. P

    A poignant write D.
I knew someone in a group. A year after it finished, I was sadly going to their funeral.
I read the news of a gas explosion in the area, and it was........ you know who.
