Crowmer’s Christmas Eve

Ma Williams

Twas the night  before Christmas and  I was feeling quite chilly,
The cold front came in and it was a dilly.

I jumped into bed and dreamland was near,
When, what to my old ears did I imagine to hear?
A cawing, a rattle, it sounded quite near!
Crowmer screeching  loudly, ‘Ma, you got any beer?’

We had some dark lager that was surely outdated
But I said help yourself,
‘Oh thank you!’ he stated.

He called all his friends, they came in on the wing.
I added some stale Cheetos and an old bologna ring.
As I settled back down, the murder went on
Chuga-lugging and mugging, having lots of fun!

As the last Corvid flew when the party had ended,
I heard Crowmer caw as he slowly ascended,
‘Merry Christmas, Ma and Sammy -
And all Merriman West!
The banquet was lovely, the brew was the best! ‘

Thought for a moment I had lost a year somewhere. Actually, I thought this was for me cos I've not reached the attic with the tree. On it now, Ma and Sammy.
