Little Bird

Susanne

People do not understand us

They think we’re “different” or “strange”

But are we or is it just what we look like

Is it just what we sound like

People want to hear what they want to hear

And see what they want to see

They don’t want to see us

They want to see what they want us to be

They try to make us different by saying “no don’t do that”

They want to confine us in chains and say it’s their “love”

Gaslight us into thinking it’s us with the problem

It's not us

We’re not the problem it’s not us

We’re the person who is in a birdcage trying to break free

Struggling as others watch in silence

No one is there we’re all alone

Lonely

We are discarded like broken toys

Broken

A graveyard for people who are demind useless

Useless

We wonder if you can get out of this cage and be free

Free

Break out and fly away like a bird

Break

When we’re out we will run run run away

Rights

We will never have the same rights as others

But we will be free

Fly away little birds fly away…
