The Water Skipper

Aae2288

Walking through the trees

The crunch-swish crunch-swish under my feet

I happen upon a creek, smell the wet moss

Peering, leering to take a peek

At the water skipper dancing in the stream

We have similar desires you and me

To float along in this world unseen

Specks on a globe of blue-grey green

The secrets to life i wish you to impart on me

Your existence seems so simple and free

Reaching my hand in to catch a kindred soul

It paddles away as the water flows.

Leaving me to ponder the complexities within

Myself and the forest

As twilight begins…

  • Comment from author about the poem: As a child I was always playing in the forest, catching bugs, picking flowers, or making mud pies. This poem represents our connection to nature and all beings on the earth both big and small.

Great reflections here. When you think about it,all life on earth is just one big food chain,..life either adapts to changes or goes extinct. Survival of the fittest. Thanks for sharing.🌞✌🕊
