Blades of Cascade

Sonoran Bard

BLADES OF CASCADE

I allow my eyes to follow the rolling hills until the last one

I can’t see clear enough to see them meet the sky

But, I try anyway.

The soil patiently holds each blade of grass in place

As the wind cuts through and multiplies

I know it’s not all real.

I turn around to see the ocean and hear its roar

I never got bored of the crashing waves

Or the mist from them.

I miss being under the shade trees’ day-long spell

Lured into the quiet, dark observance

Until sunsets fire.

A day dream.

A memory.

An escape from the screens that await my eyes as I open them back up.
