It's in human nature to be selfish
It's in human nature to be egoistic
It's simply to be expected
Yet that doesn't excuse you for being an asshole
You don't get to tell me you want the newest iPhone
And then complain about child workers
You don't get to tell me you want a new phone when you've had the one you're holding in your hand for only a year
And then complain about pollution
You act as you care
Yet if you want to complain about problems
You have to start with yourself
You aren't special
People don't think about others
Until they do something that affects them
It's in human nature to be selfish
It's in human nature to be egoistic
Yet that doesn't excuse you from being annoying
I couldn't care less if you don't like climate change
Do something about it
Start with yourself
Don't complain to me about how others pollute
When you do it yourself
You aren't special
You don't do something about it yourself
If you're going to complain
I won't listen

- Comment from author about the poem: i was talking to a girl and she told me she wanted the newest iPhone and airpods and some other mass produced stuff, and then the next topic was child workers. after that we started arguing about pollution. its simply in human nature to not think about others until they do something that affects you, but that doesn't mean you can't look at things from a different persons perspective. you start with yourself, not everyone else
