A King, A Queen, and A Prince

ModernBard

Queen:

I think now I’ve heard it all
And will not play ball.
All we do is disagree
Like we’re both unfree.
This hits harder than a rock,
Causing twice the shock.
If we cannot get along,
Then perhaps our bond’s not strong.

King:

Let them all prepare themselves,
We’ll sit this one out.
We all sound like angry elves,
Running all about.

Prince:

But, your lordship—!

King:

Let it go! I know what I say.
If you don’t do as I say,
You will rue the day!

Prince:

Yes, your lordship.
Anything—
Cut the prisoner free!
[What a broken system this]
Go now! Live in bliss!

King:

I have seen the light and know
Some things have to go.
That the way we’ve always lived
Cannot go on anymore.
A new light must shine herein
Or we head for doom.
Anyone not on the floor,
Soon must leave the room.

Prince:

[These are words I’ve never heard
Coming from our king.
Not like anything
Spoken by the birds.]

Queen:

Time and time again I disagree
With these noble egos.
Think they that they set us free
By distracting their libidos!
O, to frame much more of us
In this mortal coil
Than the things that make us fuss,
Hustle, work, and toil!
