Things are better
Now that we didn’t work out
See, you had been something I wanted for a long time
And I confused my nerves for finally getting close to my fantasy
When really it was you that scared me
You dug your way into my brain at one of my weakest points
Claiming your spot like a king on a throne
But you don’t rule me
I do
I’ve been reclaiming that throne, it hasn’t been an easy battle
So I let you slip in, you know exactly what that makes you
A thief in the night
Set on stealing my most prized possessions
You knew there were thieves before you, but they weren’t lusted after nearly as much as you
They were pawn in my ploy for attention
But you...
I actually liked you
Or so my used, tired, weak, abused, groomed heart
made me think
