Oh those myths!

Merdan

Oh my friend Jim let me you tell you something,

The people are mad and raving with assumptions,

Those myths and fantsatic truths are lethal Jim,

They cannot be reasonable without Tonic and Jin,

Man kills man as we swallow the truths,

For brand new mythical views!

We did for centuries why would we stop?

We are a nation now, member of a class,

With this you are just born into a caste!

We are brothers of a common folk?

We are sisters in the name of the Lord?

Jim those people have gone mad left and right!

No quite literally, left and right!

The Left Wing is cannibalizing itself quite nice,

In the States they are even identitarian, quite right!

The European Left has loost their roots,

And are now popular with false truths,

Went from revolutionary zealot to migrant disaster!

Oh my what a shame to ask huh?

The Right Wing, oh dear Jim, now those rave, think!

In America, oh Land of Liberty, but not for everyone!

Claiming to be freedoms home,

Yet wanting to strip the freeman's homes!

You can go to rags and riches, but not you!

In Europe those traditionals are quite the gang,

Scheltema, Orban's Diplomat, proud anti-gay lad,

Caught in the Netherlands in bed with a man!

The home of corruption, the Eastern Bloc

Are a mere foul right wing mock,

Now I should vote Jimmy?

Between a corrupt right and a decadent left?

Is that the future?

A vote between black and white it certainly isn't!

It is all painted in the same foul grey,

Marking the average man's grave!

And all of this because we believe in it!

if we could all imbue, one tenth
of the passion in this poem
    to the interest we have
when choosing who to vote for
    in that cyclical
    four year self-defeating mirage
    we title 'a democracy'.
    (but dear poet
were we to abandon our strive
    for a 'genuinely' democratic society
we would soon divulge our reality
    into limitless anarchy
and have to rebuild again, to find our humanity..
    we too quickly forget, Why
    'tribe culture' was a necessity
    and not a choice
at the outset of civilisation, see
cocooned behind our double glazed windows
and snugged-up beneath our warm duvets
    we far, too readily forget
in a world where the majority don't look-out for each other
and only the strong and powerful
    rule without any containment system
to limit their abuse of power
we would sharply regress to days of feudal, subservient reality
    or Tyrannical chaos
and then this very words, you type
with such assured belief, in your right
    to express yourself
would be excuse enough, to lose your life...
    So yes, dear impassioned poet
    please, please
write your Truth, but be mindful
    to include humanity's past mistakes
within your scope of insight and wisdom
    'change
for the sake of change, itself
    is futility: defined!'
    we must Progress
    never, allow ourselves to Regress!)
a Great write! thank you for choosing to share, dear Poet
    and I loved these lines:
'Between a corrupt right and a decadent left?
    Is that the future?
A vote between black and white it certainly isn't!
It is all painted in the same foul grey,
    Marking the average man's grave!
And all of this because we believe in it!'
    (may, that
    rationality lighthouse
    of the centre
    never dim or flounder)
    'that's the promise held
    in our ballot boxes)

      Thank you for your comment.
Since it seems that my poem left it rather "out in the Open" what I believe is better.
I do not believe we should abolish democracy or go to some form of anarchist society, I merely expressed by issues with how it currently is, you may have seen that I did not offer a "solution", as an alternative system, that is due to my believe that at the current there is none. The greatest strenght and biggest weakness of democracy is that anyone can vote and that most people will fall for the lies of a demagogue appearing like a demi-god.

I do agree that regression is not something we can allow ourselves to happen, however progress is too thinly defined, progress to where? Progressivism is a ship of good will taken over by the Pirates that is cancel culture, which in itself is no lesser evil then any other form of censorship.

The hardest choices are when both lead to ruin. Why the hell we thought it a good idea to have one man rule over millions, especially with how easy it is to let it get to their head.

The general issue is the two sidedness of peace, central goverments are much more efficient in matters as war and in history more centralized states conquered the less centralized ones because they could amass more resources and manpower then states that are ruled by a group of aristocrats.
We developed a need for central goverment simply out of fear of a hostile one conquering us, peace needs both sides to agree, war only one to disagree after all.

The beauty of this site is the freedom of expression! I respect your views and admit I feel the same about many of the things you've said. We seem to be losing our collectiveness and becoming individual satellites just circling each other, waiting opportunistically to have an advantage. I appreciate your voice.
