Meanwhile In Ukraine III

Charles Edward York

The worst sunrise in life happens

As Putin brings the storm of war alive

And death comes

From land, sea and sky

Tanks, assault troops,

Attack helicopters

And ships rain down on

Innocent people

Who only wanted

To live freely in peace.

Poor old petulant Vladimir Putin

Attached to a warped past

An empire that no longer fits

The twenty first century

And democracy is

An impossible dream

Not when dictatorship

Feeds corrupted oligarchs

Who gorge on western ways.

The new czar wears bloody robes

So terrible even communists

In China see the East is Red

Rising again and flying

Over the masses once more

Liberation of imaginary borders

Are written by Kalashnikovs

Pointed at children’s heads

Making bullying fashionable again.
