Saying Goodbye

Ameljor

I tried to find a way to see you from afar

To glimpse your eyes shining like diamonds in the dark

And watch the way you turn your nose up in the air

Giving the attitude of one who doesn’t care

But I know deep beneath the layers you wear.

And when you see me you're reminded of a time

When we were living free and in our prime

Now here I stand with only memories to hold

Wrapped around me like newspapers of old

Turning yellow, falling gently to the ground

Where they lay waiting in the dust to be found.

How I eagerly pretend I never cared

Yet, I am always willing and feeling prepared

For what I will do and say to you

And spend all my time looking down and around

At all the memories scattered and profound

Trying to find that special one

I’ll take to my bed when I’m ready for sleep

Reminding me of a love so deep

This special remembrance I shall always keep.
