In nineteen hundred and fifty three
We went for a holiday by the sea
With a book of stamps to send postcards home
And a bag of pennies for the boarding house ‘phone
A supply of Penguin paper backs
And a couple of fold-away Pac a Macs
Scrabble, Monopoly and Ludo too
And a packet of Beechams in case we got flu
And now it’s two thousand and twenty two
And we’re on hols in the land of the didgeridoo
Armed with Kindle, iPhone and Satnav
Plus iPad and laptop - a certain “must have”
Technology’s great when it everything works
In modern day living it’s one of the perks
But we can’t get a signal and well up the creek
Thank goodness we’re here for just one more week
