I gave directions to the El Camino,
Said he wandered a bit off the way.
I don't know if he took it
As he rumbled up the dry highway.
I saw his window glint in the afternoon sun
As the slow curve of Earth
Took it over the bend.
Later, I saw smoke, heard the wailing of a siren,
I wonder if he wandered a bit off the way.
And I refigure the abstract of cloud formation
As the dry wind eats up my land.
I forgot all about the El Camino
As I shut the blinds in the arc of the sun

- Comment from author about the poem: I guess I'm a poet with different voices. Many of my poem's are not personal, but rather are small stories with real voices in real situations. I don't know what happened to the El Camino, but I heard the whole thing.. Tj
