Only God

Charmaine Bartlett

Long have I questioned

Long have I cried

I'd rather have escaped

would rather have died.

What I've endured

is hard to describe,

But I've made it this far-

to my surprise I survived !

When I was just a child

and knew little of pain

I though life would be good

and the world seemed sane.

Later on I knew better

and darkness set in.

My soul became fettered

by the demons I let in.

When God set me free

I discovered real love

and finally received

Salvation from above.

No human power heals

the souls deepest woe.

Only God can give life

to a spirit laid low.
