Conversations with a lover

Conversations with a lover

He said i want you

She says you can have me

You can have my darkness

My desire

You can take me

Away from reality

And kiss me in your dreams

You can touch me

Please me

Deeply

Your hands grasp for my heart

Hungry for me

Its okay

I'll give you that too.

No, it's not enough

I need your mind

I need to make you think of me in delusion

Don't worry,

I already do

Your desire

Is my fire

Burning my truth into your lies.

Lover,

There's something you should know;

You will never have me

Just the parts of me i let you see

My body

Heart

And mind

But there are parts of me you’ll never find

I don't need you

I am whole

I will never let you take my soul.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The inspiration from this poem comes from real words spoken between me and a lover. It dives deep into the depths of the delusions grown through a romantic relationship. The concept is something I felt. It explores how we give everything to a person. Our heart, mind, body. Halfway through there is a disruption. She realises that she doesn't need him that much after all. He could take everything but her soul and she comes to realises that is the one thing that makes her whole. It is quietly empowering and helped me come to realisations that helped me move on and see the truth.
