My valley

Azanda Nyangintsimbi

My body is a valley of skin
My skin runs deep
So deep it wraps my thoughts
And covers what’s
underneath.

My skin is soft
Smooth,
Pure,
But tough
But bare.

And still you don’t care
enough
how soft,
smooth
or pure my skin is.

You know it’s bare,
Fragile,
Fertile,
That it can easily tear.

Yet you still
Erode
What’s left

And

Pierce through what’s
Underneath

But skin heals
But leaves scars
