We work to gain all our lives
What we lose, we never highlight
Acquired skills make you bright
Helps you scale the heights with might
Learn to walk, nobody bothers to carry you about
Learn to drive and you no longer walk
And miss the friends that were part of your walk
Get a job and lose your freedom
Build a house and be rooted to a spot
Count your gains and your loses pile up
You reach a stage when nothing matters much
Gains no longer hold their charm
But loses you shall recount
Gains you worked for all your life
Loses you cherish more in the sunset of your life
