Go To School

Pacifique Niyitanga

Good morning, cutie.

Have you seen butterflies—

In your dreams at night?

You must have been busy,

Soft and warm in your bed.

Today is your day, love.

You've to wake up early,

Take shower and dress up—

In your beautiful uniform,

And come to school with me.

Remember, you've to pray;

Eat your bread and drink milk,

Say goodbye to your mom,

Promise her to come back,

And don't forget your pencils.

Do you remember that?

Angels were once like you,

And they bless good kids;

Those who come to school.

They brighten their future!

Let's go, little dove.

Your tutors are waiting—

For you and your answers,

Don't be shy or rude in class,

Try to smile and obey them:

Your friends and your teachers.
