“So, put up or shut up, I say.

Let’s not walk away from the fray.

It may not be just what we wanted.

But why not remain as undaunted

As someone who has it together

In spite of the day or the weather?”

“I’d rather climb back in the bed.

In bed I can sleep late instead.

I have no more interest in struggling;

The forces of life had me juggling.

“But still, it’s a lonely affair.

One that is rarely so fair.

Suffice it to say I’m intrigued;

Consider the both of us leagued.”

“Indeed, this is very good news.

Let’s gather some folks in the pews.

I’m sure they’ll be happy to learn

The pact we have made in return.”

“Do not get ahead of the carriage.

Remember, I’m destined for marriage.

My time is on loan for a while.

But ‘while’ does not mean countless miles.”
