Free?

Younique

You say I'm free. But I'm not free.

What does it mean to be free? Free from discrimination

free from the hatred in your eyes, free from society

So, what is freedom, I cannot answer that cause while no one

is truly "free", I am not free in your eyes. Those eyes that

burn red with hatred or when you speak my name with

Venom after each syllable. What does it mean to be free?

It means being approved by society, approved by those who look down

on me like I'm nothing but a low life cause that's what the world tells you,

but they're wrong. They don't decide my freedom, I do. That's what it

means to be free.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes you need to let society know that they can't control your freedom or change you and make you someone you aren't. You are made the way you are for a reason. Don't give up on yourself.
