Ephemeral Embrace

sorenbarrett

In your embrace, from a dream I awoke

Escaping my grasp like drifting smoke

Now only an echo remains behind

Your haunting memories in my mind

An emptiness I can not hold

Your reverberations me enfold

Yet I feel them like ripples in a pond

Each one a sign of our bond

My only hope you to keep

Is to remain with you in my sleep

Enchanting! As we wake we often try to hold onto those slender threads of a beautiful dream. Loved your poem.

Such are the regrets on waking from euphoric dreams. Delaying arising to meet the day... clutching at fading remnants of that dream... I know this only too well...

Very well written, easily relateable. Hopefully they will return for your togetherness in the slumbers which await your nights ahead.
