Several times in this life,
I’ve missed my end.
I will tell you the truth,
I will not pretend.
I may not deserve to be alive,
having lived on edge of a knife.
Hanging onto some blessings,
just living a borrowed life.
Never thought about it so deep,
that I had anything to lose.
Don't know how did I survive,
just escaped with some bruise.
And then I came across you,
thought you were my muse.
It's rife with challenges,
and not a smooth cruise.

- Comment from author about the poem: Leonard Cohen says- This is the most challenging activity that humans get into, which is love. You know, where we have the sense that we can't live without love. That life has very little meaning without love. The lover wonders that cause of his life is his Muse but he is surprised about the challenges of life, which he may have thought as an easy ride........ despite having beaten death many times in life due to chance or a blessing, he is beaten at the front of love.
