Midnight Maidens

Daniel McDonagh

Is it not the voice

Of Lorelei I hear

On this water path,

That travels through

The towns of Europe

Were Napoleon once passed.

Is it a sirens song

I hear travelling slowly

Through a stormy sky,

As the Maighdean Mhara

Scream at dawn, appearing

Only at high tide.

For, on this lonesome journey

Guided by the light

Of the midnight stars

I am waiting for

A water nymph to

Seduce my broken heart.
