A flower bought as trophy was in full bloom in May
Its size was very imposing, its color a sunset ray
Its petals silky smooth, its stems were six feet high
Its countenance imperious, its gaze facing the sky
My heart was filled with sadness as I went on my way
I was trying to figure out something nice to say
I wished to offer praise, but it ignored my glance
Seemed dead to sight and hearing, indifferent in its stance
Nearby stood a small flower, of pomp it showed no need
It had pale yellow flowers resembling more a weed
I stopped to take a look, thought what a pretty sight
It seemed to read my mind, its blooms became bright
I heard a silent voice, “thank you my welcome friend
For spotting my small petals next to that bloom so grand
I am just a lowly flower but I am fully alive
I do not bloom for glory, to please I simply strive”
“I am a loving creature,” said in a weeping voice
“I am very sad and lonely, this life is not my choice
Nobody ever greets me, I can’t imagine why
Stay with me a while next time you are passing by”

I really liked these rhymes in your poem and the poem was great too! Sometimes I feel like that lowly flower. Hmm. Anyway, great poem!
Thank you. We often forget that the ordinary is the greatest gift.
