One of those days
Family being family
Pulled or pushed in strange directions
I love them, have loyalty
But my life is my life.
I take refuge in the sangha
And breathe
I know their weaknesses
I know their strengths
They know mine
We're family
But I am not a judge
I take refuge in the Dharma
And breathe
I try and follow my conscience
I maintain my independence
I will not take sides
How can I chose?
Why should I decide
I take refuge in the Buddha
And breathe
It's family
In a week will be forgotten
Supporting each other is a habit
So soldier, soldier on.
My life is mine.
And breathe
And breathe

Thank you.
these words represent
a wonderfully measured unfurling
of that thought process, we can all relate to
where, we have to balance
our need for making those hard choices
that will define our life's path
and
those family loyalties, representing
our most cherished anchors in life..
I also like how you depicted
your chosen faith/belief system
as a spine/foothold
for you to lean-on, gather yourself
and breathe..
(I loved the honesty
a great read!
thanks for sharing)
