I greet the sun

Daya's Hum

a beacon of the new day

that will permit me the rest

I’ve been so scared of taking

sleep I could never indulge,

for the dark night was terrific

A void

pit of infinitude

memories of several lifetimes

there to supply the plots of many nightmares

I could not take anymore nightmares,

in the darkness that housed them.

It is there that all locks have been broken

screams muffled

inner-flame extinguished

I’m awake

until the light arrives

so she can supervise

my fragile child’s body, made childless

so she can clean up

what pain has drawn down my legs

I’m awake until

she arrives with my compensation

for all hope lost in the night

to satisfaction sought by demons

that served my plight

intruding for a malignant touch

that will continue to plague my senses

Until I awaken,

as she commands my eyes shut

the Sun arrives to

save me
