Unfolding

Fay Slimm.

Unfolding.

Spring speaks to granite chill

as rocks warm to changing sunrise

above glistening curls of unfolding life.

Spring's tongue savours the heaps

of frosty-haired weed left by high tide

and licks new buds adorning the roadside.

Spring's time being short seeks out

empty hedgerows and nudges white

roots to crawl towards lengthening light.

Spring creeps in after winter leaves

to kiss growth awake with eager desire

for bountiful blossoms to please our eyes.

Praise for the yearly welcome gifts

in the burgeoning season of Springtime.

Grand to hear you too in Canada are expecting the arrival of Spring and thanks for dropping by Dean for a read of what we here south-west U.K. are seeing unfold before our eyes - may your snow melt soon to show you lots of sunshiny flowers again dear poet- friend.

By 'eck Fay, tha knows me too well, you've described me to a T here "A heap of frosty haired weed left by the high tide".

What a lovely welcome reminder that spring has arrived with it's smile across the country. I shall find a place to walk among the bluebells and sit beneath the blossoms though I haven't been out to see any daffodils yet. I'm hiding away from covid nasties. My family have it, Goldfinch and Teddy both have it.

Your words arrive like a gift vision of all the springtime pleasures I know are beyond my door when i dare to venture out.

      • Fay Slimm.

Many thanks for your supportive comment dear Dusk - and I do hope you are able to venture outdoors very soon to enjoy the smiles of all the spring flowers.

        another delectable Nature poem
        from you, dear Fay
        our beloved Blighty is sandwiched
        in mother Nature's beauty, grinning
        from sky, to blossoming tree...!
        hail our Devine of Spring
        welcome, our season
        of galvanising respite
        how timely, your warmth
        soothes
        our world weary heart's

        • Fay Slimm.

And how kind are your very supportive comments dear friend - - many thanks for your visit to my page of efforts of tribute to Nature.

            Good write Fay.
Well, the blossom tree in our front garden (there's not that many in our road - aww) buds about the first day of Spring. Some years it's up to two weeks later.
Let's hope it stays Spring-like, or reasonably so!

            • Fay Slimm.

Agree with you Orchi that Spring has a name for being precocious so maybe the buds will have to wait longer - - but oh what a show when blossom trees flower.
