Morning words
Of hatred borrowed
From 20 years
Of a love embargo
Cursed upon two hearts
In utero
A fatherless daughter
Never ought to let go
Of some hope
Of a maybe someday
We could dance again
On the path of the Mandalay
Morning thoughts
Of siblings hollowed
By the remnants
Of distant echoes
Ringing from the arch
Is its church bells
A motherless son
Never ought to let go
Of some hope
Of a maybe someday
We could laugh again
On the path of the Mandalay
From now on
And from tomorrow
The constant pain
And endless sorrow
Will be left for the lost to follow
On the path of the Mandalay.
