S’pose I die

James Fox

The dark clouds circle

as ever present vultures

on my landscape of happiness

Questions play on my mind,

whirling as a merry go round

with meaningless tunes

to torment a bitter soul

Life’s meaningless amble

has been provoked into conscious thought.

The sun shows its ability

to burn the despair

and clear the path towards understanding.

The light you offer is powerful

for naive eyes that live in shadows.

Shrouded in a small world,

unaware of the tragedy that stalks us

but also touches us in enriching ways.

S’pose I die

before I bask in your warm glow.

It will be sad....but, yes

I will have lived.

For that moment

holds all hope for a wretched soul,

and pushes the clouds away.
