The first kiss hurt
Because that's when I knew you would never fall for me
the way I did for you
I wish I was oblivious to the little things
like you were
The way your fingers never found their way under the hem of my shirt
I would have let you seen my world under this blend of polyester
if it weren't so flawed and scarred,
maybe you would have loved me
And the way you lit my cigarettes
and your eyes poured into my drug enhanced pupils
just begging for you to take a swim in them
so I can forget about my responsibilities for the night
You never dried my tears, or held my hand, or made sure I got home safe
Yet when I light my own cigarettes, seeking comfort I am missing you
Tonight we will be dancing under the moon
as an to this one sided sad excuse of a romance
So be damned the consequences of broken dreams, hearts, and curfews
Under a different moon I hope I am lying with my very own world's greatest lover
