Walking down the lane with a tune on my lips
Enjoying the breeze and the dewdrop kiss
Wondering what little miracle the long day holds
For that is a puzzle which none of us knows
Something stopped me from walking past
As if tugging to say not so fast
It was a melodious voice but just so faint
When it came nearer, I sensed it so pained
Then I saw her at the end of the street
Holding her baby, she was about to retreat
The melancholy in her voice I could not ignore
Making me think I should stay a while more
Her eyes stayed long at her bundle of joy
Praying for all the good that he will enjoy
There was hope and love in her tear-filled eyes
Her courageous smile did not hold a disguise
What the future holds for him, she was not sure to know
Wherever life takes him, she did wish it to glow
Watching him cling to her, she seemed no more forlorn
And I traced back my steps with the lullaby lingering on...
