Every word I try to write
Just feels so wrong
Not sure how to act tonight
When I remember our old song
It's not like I don't feel anything
I just want to keep up hope
I know this is something serious
But this is my way to cope
Trying to find some peace in writing
I am just having a hard time
Cause I could write a hundred things, so tiring
Just thinking about the old time
Trying to escape the why
Cause nothing will make you cure
I never want to say goodby
But I will always be grateful, that's for sure

- Comment from author about the poem: I recently got the news that my grandpa has cancer. At the moment we can't really do much about it, which makes me feel so useless. When having cancer, nothing is sure. I feel so much, but at the same time I feel nothing. In this poem I was kind of trying to put my feelings into words. This definitely not a goodby letter, it's more a reflection. It's also about our good times together and how grateful I am for the memories we share.

wading through shock
is a time consuming, effort
be kind to yourself,
in the words of Keats:
'the tears will come, let them...'
never give-in, but
prepare yourself
maximise every chance you get
to add to your memories
and reach out to those
who reach out, to you
allow each other to build
that necessary
scaffolding, embrace of support..
I'm so sorry, I can't imagine
what it must be like
stay strong! dear poet
