THE FALLING LEAF

Thejaswini

Trees of autumn are swaying in the winds so playful,

Turning lush green leaves into golden, fiery and hazel.

A dried leaf is still bound to its branch so whimsically,
Veering between the force of gusts and gravity.

On the ground lay a hued carpet of dried leaves,
That rejoiced carefree in the hustling sounds of breeze.

Dusk set-in and the zephyr was mellow,
While the leaf embraced its tint of vibrant yellow.

And then I watched the pretty leaf fall in a might of grace,
As it was swinging free in a boundless, peaceful space.

My eyes gazed upon the beauty of this falling leaf,
That enjoyed its free fall without any sense of grief.

Tangerine sunset adorned the velvet sky,
Time seemed frozen and I never wondered why.

The falling leaf imparted a profound life lesson,
That stays with me from autumn to autumn.
