Fool's Gold

DestinysPerspectives

Everyone said I was a fool
for seeing your gold heart.
Thieves steal gold.
They don't create gold.
Yet you always carried gold.
Your heart was encrusted with it.
You called it fool's gold.
It was the treasure you buried deep inside.
I saw the world try to steal it away from you.
In the quiet moments you shared a piece of
it with me.
You told me not to tell anyone.
Like I promised I kept it to myself.
I know to survive you had to bury it some place else.
When you were younger you created a map.
You vowed to find it again when you found safety.
Now you feel lost without it.
The lines blurred on the map from years of it being misplaced.
I wish you'd find me again because I remember the lines well.
But I've learned you have to be the one to uncover your fool's gold.
It's not my treasure to uncover.
